Seth Rogen’s Charity HFC Can Help You: Here’s How! By Guest Blogger Tayler Accurso
Did you know that in 2022, over six million Americans have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease? Are you a caregiver for one of these individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, or have you been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease? You are not alone, and there are resources that can help you.
How can HFC help you?
Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogan created HFC, an amazing organization built for research, prevention, and assistance to support family caregivers and individuals who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Is your family struggling to make ends meet while caring for your loved one with Alzheimer’s disease? Are you, the caregiver, neglecting your own needs and well-being so that you can be a full-time caregiver?
These are just two of the many challenges that come with caregiving. HFC recognizes these challenges and has created a grant program that provides up to six months of free in-home care. The HFC In-Home Care Grant not only helps the loved one living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia but also helps relieve the caregiver of the added pressures and challenges of caregiving. Being a caregiver is a tough job, and this grant can help caregivers give themselves more time to focus on themselves and their well-being. That way, they can continue being an amazing caregiver to their loved ones, while also prioritizing themselves in the process. Are you struggling with your mental health while caregiving for your loved one? Do you just need a little extra support to help you be the best caregiver you can, while also prioritizing yourself and your mental health?
HFC has created many different online support groups, including weekly drop-in support groups and bereavement support groups. These are ALL free and currently offered in English and Spanish. HFC also hosts different webinars and workshops focusing on a wide variety of topics to help caregivers, connecting them to all the different resources available to them while
raising awareness about brain health, Alzheimer’s disease, and possible prevention methods.
A great place to start is the HFC’s inaugural Virtual Book Club based on Cruising Through Caregiving: Reducing the Stress of Caring for Your Loved One hosted by our very own, Jennifer L. FitzPatrick MSW, CSP. Click here to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzRQ7FUEvS0 This is one of the many programs on the HFC YouTube channel used to help support caregivers and families. Caregiving is not “one size fits all” and there are many different challenges that come with it. You are not alone in this. HFC has dedicated their time to providing resources and connections that may be able to relieve the stress and difficulties of being a caregiver to your loved one.
