A Book I Love About Dementia, Sex, Relationships and Caregiving!

I can’t believe this book is 10 years old!  But I still highly recommend it, particularly for spouses and partners of those who have dementia.  Check out my review below:

Dr. Ruth’s Guide for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver, Dr. Ruth Westheimer & Pierre A. Lehu, 2012.

While the legendary Dr. Ruth is not a dementia expert, she co-wrote a terrific practical book for about caregiving for caregivers, particularly care partners who are spouses.  Much of the Dr. Ruth’s Guide For The Alzheimer’s Caregiver is about how a caregiver should take responsibility for his or her own happiness & sanity during the dementia caregiving experience.  Not surprisingly since Dr. Ruth is a relationship and sexuality guru, she shares in this book about caregiving candid advice on how caregivers can manage the need for romance, sex and companionship when their spouses no longer recognize them.
