About The Book

Every chapter of Cruising Through Caregiving offers a different way for family caregivers to reduce their stress. While much of the language is focused on caring for an older loved one, the strategies can be applied for all types of caregiving situations.

This is a useful resource from someone with vast experience, both as a gerontologist and a caregiver.
-Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Actor and New York Times best-selling author of Where The Light Gets In

I strongly recommend this book not only to families dealing with the stress of caregiving, but also to the professionals who seek to help them.

When’s Jennifer a good fit for your meeting?

How’s Jennifer different?

Unique Background In Senior Living, Mental Health, Academia and Personal Caregiving

My background’s really different from most professional speakers who present on caregiving. The jobs I’ve held in nursing homes, senior living, adult day care, Area Agencies on Aging and senior centers provided me with a realistic understanding about what it’s like to navigate those services. I’ve taught gerontology at the college level since 2001. Over the course of my life I’ve been a family caregiver four times (cancer, heart disease and mental health). My time as a psychotherapist to family caregivers also provided me deep insight into what family caregivers truly need. This unique blend of experience has helped me offer innovative ideas that bring change to caregiving audiences.

In addition to being a keynote speaker on caregiving, I’m also the founder of the healthcare consulting firm Jenerations Health Education, Inc and provide keynote speaking outside of healthcare as well (jenniferfitzpatrick.com).

Media Credibility!

I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to contribute to numerous media outlets about caregiving, aging and healthcare issue. It’s been an honor to be quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Forbes, The Huffington Post, Redbook and U.S. News & World Report. During appearances on HLN, ABC, CBS, Sirius XM, and Iheartmedia, I’ve had the chance to weigh in on issues like reducing caregiver stress, having difficult conversations with older parents, non-traditional funerals, and getting a dementia diagnosis.

Certified Speaking Professional!

As a member of National Speakers Association, I have been rigorously evaluated by my speaking peers and am proud to have earned the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. It’s a certification that less than 800 professional speakers worldwide hold. I am one of only 4 CSP speakers who has an expertise in caregiving.

Great Stories!

I love sharing stories that caregivers and healthcare professionals can relate to, drawing from my professional experience in healthcare as well as my personal experiences caregiving.

Here’s what happy customers have said about Jen’s caregiving presentations:

Jennifer led a workshop for a room full of stressed-out caregivers working full-time jobs. She clearly understood the challenges they faced and offered concrete suggestions to reduce their stress. I wish all caregivers had the opportunity to be recognized and helped the way our audience was.

-Barbara Fowler, Phd., Lifespan Services Manager, Johns Hopkins University Office Of Work, Life & Engagement

Jennifer FitzPatrick is an expert in her field, spoke from her heart and had a great deal of compassion for the audience and individuals she spoke to. She would be a fantastic resource for any company or organization that is looking to connect with a speaker in the area of caregiving responsibilities.

-Kimberly Lehouiller, Vice President, Nestle Professional

What a great way to start the conference! I could see that you really connected with the audience and I heard lots of wonderful feedback about your presentation all day. You were outstanding!

-Ilene Rosenthal, Program Director, Alzheimer’s Association
